The scandal surrounding antidepressants is not a new situation for the ‘mental illness’ industry. People are still fighting to get recognition from the government of the costs of benzodiazepine addiction (valium, mogadone) and to put a stop to the over-prescribing of this highly addictive and damaging drug.
They were first introduced in the 1950s and were hailed as being side-effect free – so much better than barbituates, the previous wonder cure. ‘They’ were wrong and it is now well documented that ‘they’ were wrong. However many people continue to be misinformed by their doctor and led into a vicious cycle of prescription drug addiction.
This leaflet tells you how you can voice your concerns/disgust to the government about the fact that:
- adequate support and rehabilitation is still not being provided within the NHS for those involuntarily addicted to benzodiazepines.
- Benzos are still being prescribed contrary to the UK Government 2-4 weeks only guidelines.
