We recently used a rotavator on our plot (previous post). We left it a few days then went to check out how the soil looked. We were well pleased the soil is now more workable. Its rained loads over the last few days so it was very wet but still such an improvement on our original crap condensed weed ridden clay soil!
We had mixed opinions over the use of the rotavator, but I would definately advise anyone with soil like we had to use one. We would never of been able to dig the plot over by now, and believe me we both aren’t afraid of a bit of hard work. It would of taken us weeks to do the job. With the rotavator we did it in one day. ![]()
As you can see from the photo I had had enough of rotavating come the end of the day. We were lucky to get some help that day so there were three of us rotavating, wheelbarrowing and digging the 100ft plot.

It certainly looks very good now. Happy planting!
Cheers Lilymarlene and good luck with your new plot!
Looks like you have forgotten to bury the last body lol
Nice job
Im about to prepare the ground for a vegetable plot I plan to plant next year so a rotavator looks like the solution to my digging problems.
